In 1976, Franco Torrini created a holiday gift to symbolize the new year.
After more than 40 years, the renowned store of Torrini 1369 introduces the new medal dedicated to the new coming year 2020. The medal is finely hand made in sterling silver and it represents a traditional festive symbol. Created to adorn the Christmas Tree or any other setting where the poetry of beauty and joy exist.
Part of the Torrini 1369 tradition requires every medal to be embossed by master engravers. This intricate technique was developed in Florence by the Master of Leonardo da Vinci, Andrea del Verrocchio.
This eminent Renaissance Master was the father of the basso-rilievo, a sculptural technique that gives the impression that the material has been raised above the background plane. The main figures have an outstanding projection than the background in which it is located, insinuating a sense of depth and movement.
Due to this technique, Verrocchio is recognized worldwide and considered one of the most significant individuals in the History of Art, and his didactics are considered the core of the artistic Renaissance.
Each and every Torrini 1369 medal has been made with this long-lived technique, which is proudly presented year after year with distinct Holiday themes.
For 650 years, art has accompaniedus in history!
